Updating the CORE sensor firmware

Guide: keeping your CORE sensor up to date

The CORE app will usually guide you to update the firmware when a new version is released. Follow the prompts in the app to complete the update.

Keep in mind, the update can take up to 15 minutes and it is recommended to keep your smart phone on and the CORE app open until it is complete.

If you choose to skip the update and wish to manually update at a later time, you can find the firmware update option here:

It can take a moment until the app starts the process and it can take up to 15 minutes. It is best to leave the smart phone open and wait until the update is complete.

Once the update is completed, remember to shake the CORE

Troubleshooting - Connection Issue

If the "Checking ..." status message doesn't change, try disconnecting the by cancelling the update, turning your phone bluetooth off... and then on again and reconnecting to your CORE sensor.

If the problem persists your CORE is having a hard time connecting to our server.

One of the following should solve the issue:

  • Try connecting to another WiFi (a firewall might be preventing the connection)
  • Try using Mobile Data (download size is a few Mb)
  • Check your phone's settings and make sure you are not blocking access to websites from there.

Troubleshooting - Incomplete Update

  • Make sure your phone's screen does not black out
    • iOS: Settings > Display and Brightness > Auto-Lock > "highest value"
    • Android: Settings > Display > Sleep > "highest value"
  • Connect your CORE to charger

If the upgrade still fails midway:

  1. Downgrade the firmware back to an earlier version (for example 0.7.4)
  2. Upgrade again to the newest version as you had tried before (hopefully this time without interruption).

Make sure there is nothing in the way of your CORE and phone (best distance: approx. 1m) and that you are running the most recent app version.

To upgrade or downgrade to a specific firmware version such as 0.7.4, follow the steps below:

  1. Ensure your CORE sensor is connected and click on the settings icon
  2. On the firmware version, click on the icon
  3. Select the small green text 'Advanced Update
  4. In the Firmware version type 0.7.4
  5. Click the Update button once
